GENERAL INFO FOR BOARDERS
I will feed a small amount of sweet feed daily to all the horses so they will come up and I can check them out. Special diets and/or feeds are up to owner. I also provide daily fresh water and a mineral block for each pasture. We produce our own mixed grasses hay in the form of round bales. It is good quality (11% protein) and dry stored. I will provide hay as needed (nov-mar)Shelter is wooded natural only. The valley is protected from the wind by tree breaks and I found I didn’t even have to blanket any of mine last winter. A tack tent is available next to the arena for tack/cleaning/ training supplies etc. Store at your on risk however we have never had any problems with theft etc. Someone is always on the property. Feed is stored inside horse trailer so there is never a risk of horses accidently getting in to it.
Pastures are mixed grasses (fescue, johnson grass, orchard) and mowed regularly. All fencing is horse safe and 3 strands of 1/4” braided tipper-tie electric. Water is pumped up from the creek via gas powered water pump. (also used for bathing horses) all paddocks also have access to natural creeks. Johnson creek flows year round and largest herd has free access to it. Fence is charged by solar power and I have a portable rechargeable battery ac plug for electric clippers.
There is a stall & 2 acre paddock located up top near our house. It is available on a full care daily rate basis (based on $350/mo) as needed for injured or sick animals, delivery, winterizing elderly horses etc. Daily doses of medicines, wraps, holding animal for vet, ferrier is available for an additional fee. Hay and feed is also extra for cared animals in stall paddock.
A ferrier, vet & riding instructor all visit the farm regularly for my horses. If you want to utilize their services let me know so we can coordinate times.
It is fine to invite friends over with their horses to ride our many trails however all riders and visitors must first sign a farm release form. For non-riding spouses and significant others we have several canoes and a lake for fishing as well as plenty of hiking trails. A portable bathroom is on site near the arena. Fishing area is part of Cheatam Lake and normal fishing regulations apply.
